Caravanios is a camping app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Log your trip’s expenses as you go: the pitch, the fuel, the ferry. Choose who paid and who shares the cost, and see who owes whom in each currency.

Log expenses on the road
In Caravanios, expenses belong to a trip: your route with its stops, its dates and the people travelling with you. Plan the trip first, then add expenses as they come up.
Four friends are on a motorhome tour. Jana fills up. She opens the trip, adds an expense, enters the amount, picks the currency and chooses fuel as the category.
There are 12 categories, from pitch fees and groceries to tolls, parking and ferries. Optionally, you link the expense to the stop where you paid, a campsite or place on your route. Tolls or a ferry crossing can simply belong to the whole trip. Saving it needs an internet connection.

Split costs
Split costs between the travellers
The people who share costs are the travellers of the trip. They come from your camping group, the people you go camping with, which you set up in Caravanios. They don’t need the app or an account. For each trip you choose who is coming along.
In the same expense form, you choose who paid and who shares the cost. Jana paid for the fuel, and it is split between all four friends. With “Split evenly”, everyone pays the same share. With “Fixed amounts”, you enter each person’s share yourself. If the payer is the only one sharing an expense, nobody owes anything for it.
In the trip, under “Open balances”, Caravanios shows you who owes whom and how much.
Log that you settled up
You settle up the way you always do, in cash or with a payment app. Then you tap “Log a settlement” and enter who paid whom, how much and in which currency.
Caravanios only records that you settled up. The money itself changes hands outside the app. Once nothing is left to pay, the trip shows “All settled”.
Keep several currencies apart
On a tour to Norway, you might pay the ferry in NOK, fuel in Sweden in SEK and a pitch in Germany in EUR. Each expense stays in the currency you paid in.
Open balances are listed separately for each currency, so NOK and EUR never end up in one total. Caravanios does not convert between them. You can choose from 18 currencies, including EUR, GBP, CHF, SEK, NOK and DKK.
See what the trip cost
Logging and splitting expenses is free. After the trip, the statistics page of your trip shows what you spent in total. With Pro, the paid subscription of Caravanios, you also see the costs per day, per night and per kilometre, and the share of each category.
You can also save moments, photos and notes from the road, to look back on after the trip.

Why we log expenses while we travel
We, the people behind Caravanios, travel by caravan ourselves. Once you are home, the receipts are hard to find. So we note down tolls, motorway vignettes and fuel in the trip as we go. You can see what a whole trip cost us in our cost breakdown on caravanios.com (in German).
Common questions
Does everyone need the app?
No. Your fellow travellers can be people in your camping group without the app or an account. You add them to the trip and include them in expenses.
Which currencies can I use?
You can choose from 18 currencies, including EUR, GBP, CHF, SEK, NOK and DKK. Each currency is kept separately, and Caravanios does not convert between them.
Does Caravanios transfer money?
No. You pay each other outside the app and log the settlement in Caravanios afterwards.
Is it free or part of Pro?
Logging, splitting and settling expenses is free, and so is the total in the trip statistics. Costs per day, night and kilometre and the share of each category come with Pro.
