Trip costs

Keep the fuel receipt with the trip, not in another chat

Record who paid, who shares the expense and which original currency was used. Caravanios then shows who is still owed something and who should settle up, kept separate by currency. It never moves money.

From expense to a recorded settlement

Keep the calculation understandable and leave the actual payment with the people involved.

  • Add an expense with payer, category, participants, split and original currency.
  • See who is owed what, separated by currency; the entered amount and currency stay attached to every expense.
  • Record the settlement once the people involved have paid each other outside Caravanios.
Caravanios shows the total spend of a camping trip, the share of each category and the open balances.

What the budget keeps clear

Original amounts

The entered amount and currency remain attached to every expense.

Separate currencies

Open amounts stay grouped by currency, so CHF and EUR never merge into one seemingly exact total.

Recorded settlement

A settlement records what the group resolved; it never initiates a transfer.

Example: fuel in EUR, toll in CHF

Record both receipts with their original amounts, currencies, payer and participants. Caravanios shows separately who is owed CHF and who is owed EUR instead of inventing a converted total.

No wallet, bank or live exchange-rate service

Caravanios does not make payments, connect bank accounts or promise automatic currency conversion. Without reviewed rate data, the original amount and currency are what you go by, and you agree an exchange rate outside the app.

Questions about trip costs

Can I pay another traveller in Caravanios?

No. Payments happen outside the app; supported settlement actions only document what happened.

Are foreign currencies converted automatically?

No automatic conversion is promised. The original amount and currency remain visible; a converted view appears only where reviewed rate data exists.

Are costs visible in the public trip link?

No. Trip costs remain private to authorised group members.

Record the first shared expense

Add the payer, participants and original currency, then see what is still open in each currency.
