A packing list for this trip
First create a trip, with dates and stops. The packing list is part of the trip. It is what goes in your bag: rain jackets, chargers, your own pillow. Things that come on every trip you write down once, in your packing list template.
When you open a new trip, import your template and pick the items you need this time. A long weekend in May needs less than three weeks in the south. Then add anything that only comes on this trip, and tick items off as they go in the bag.
Forgot something this time? Add it to the trip’s list and save it to your template, so you can pick it next time.
Check your vehicle’s gear before you leave
In Caravanios you keep a gear list for your vehicle: everything that belongs on board. Each item is In vehicle, At home, Missing or Used up. That tells you what is on board, what still has to come from home and what to buy or replace. To set it up, add your vehicle in Caravanios and fill its gear list.
Pick that vehicle for your trip. The trip then shows the gear that is not on board yet. A short note such as “2 missing from your gear” tells you how much is left.
Picture the Thursday before a long weekend. You open the trip: the awning carpet and the camping chairs are still Missing, and the first aid kit is still At home. Once they are on board, you set them to In vehicle.
Caravanios also suggests common gear that is not in your vehicle yet. If you take a suggestion, it goes into your gear list as Missing, so you know to buy it or fetch it.
The departure check for your camping group
The departure check is the list you go through right before you drive off. The packing list covers what goes in your bag; the departure check covers what you do, like closing the gas valves and shutting the roof vents.
It belongs to your camping group: the people you camp with in Caravanios. If you camp alone, your group is just you. Everyone in the group sees the same items and the same ticks.
Your group keeps one departure check template, separate from your packing list template. Every trip has its own departure check. Start it from the group’s template, or build it yourself. You can reset the ticks for the next drive. If you camp in more than one group, you can import a list from another one.
Under “Suggestions for this trip”, Caravanios offers sets of items that fit where and when you travel. The safety check before departure is always there: vehicle papers, gas bottles, tyres, windows and roof vents, medication. If your trip has stops, campsite setup comes too, with the hook-up lead and levelling ramps. Depending on the season and trip length, you may also get a summer set, a winter and frost set, or a set for a longer trip. You choose which items to add.
Reminders before you leave
Once your trip has a start date, Caravanios reminds you to get ready. The reminders come two weeks, one week, two days and one day before you leave, and again on the day you set off. If you would rather not have them, switch off “Getting ready to leave” in the notification settings of the app.
Offline, limits and Pro
Pro is the paid Caravanios subscription. It covers your whole camping group: if one person in the group subscribes, everyone in it has Pro.
No signal at the campsite or on the drive? With Pro, you can make your trip available offline. Then your trip and its checks stay on your phone, so you can still tick off the departure check and change your packing list. Caravanios saves the changes and sends them once you are back online.
Lists have room for a lot, but not without end. A packing list holds up to 250 items. Your gear list holds 40 entries per vehicle for free and 250 with Pro. The departure check has no limit.

No. Your packing list and the departure check live in the app, on your phone, where you tick them off.
Is the safety check enough?
The safety check before departure is a set of reminders. You, as the driver, are still responsible for checking that the vehicle is safe to drive.
