Campsite map: browse campsites by region

Caravanios is a camping app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Its campsite map shows you the campsites in any region you drag it to. Save the best ones with the heart, or pick some and plan a route from them.

  • Campsites in a region, even without a route
  • Filters for power, showers and toilets, and the sea
  • Plan a route from the campsites you pick
The Caravanios campsite map around Lake Garda shows each campsite as a dot, with the filter button at the top right.

Browse campsites by region on the map

Maybe all you know is that you want to go somewhere on the coast of Brittany. You don’t need a route for that yet. Sign in to the app, open the campsite map and scroll across to Finistère.

To open the map, tap the Trips tab at the bottom, where your route plans and trips live. A route plan is a route with its stops; a trip also has dates and travellers. While the tab is still empty, you’ll see a button: “Open the campsite map” on iPhone, “Look around the map” on Android. Once you have a route plan or a trip, tap the “On the map” card instead.

Zoomed out, you see numbers. Each one tells you how many campsites there are in that area. Zoom in, and the numbers turn into single campsites you can tap.

The map comes from Apple Maps on iPhone and from OpenStreetMap on Android. If you already know your start and destination, search for campsites along your route instead.

The Caravanios campsite map shows the Alps down to the Adriatic, with numbers for how many campsites there are in each area.

Filter the map for power, showers or the sea

Tap the filter button and choose what a campsite should have: power, showers and toilets, a spot by the sea, a lake, Wi-Fi, food on site, dogs, or “Book online” and “Book on request”. Some of these need Pro, the paid Caravanios subscription. The last chapter sets out which.

Tap a campsite to open its details. They show you the location, a description and the facilities.

The map shows only the campsites that match. If nothing in view matches, the map tells you how many campsites there are without your filters. Tap “Adjust filters” to widen your search.

The Caravanios filter sheet lists Power, Showers and toilets and By the sea as free filters, and By a lake, Wi-Fi, Food on site, Dogs and Booking with a Pro lock.

Save campsites to your favourites

Like a campsite? Tap the heart, “Save to favourites”, in its details. Save three campsites on the Finistère coast in one evening, without planning a route.

Optionally, add a note to each one, such as “Beach on foot, call ahead about the dog”. It can be up to 280 characters long.

On iPhone, you’ll find them on Trips under “Favourites”. On Android, the entry is called “Saved campsites”. Save as many as you like. They’re stored with your account and the same on all your devices.

Plan a route from your campsites

You don’t have to save campsites first. On the map, open a campsite’s details and tap “Add to selection”. You can select up to 10 campsites at a time. Then tap “Plan a route”. Your campsites become the stops, and you save the result as a route plan: the stops in order. You’ll find it under Trips.

Your favourites work the same way. Select some of them and tap “Plan a route”. The number on the button shows how many you’re taking along.

If you already have a trip, select campsites and tap “Add to a trip” to add them to the one you choose. To make a route plan a trip, add dates and travellers whenever you like.

The campsite map: free on iPhone and iPad, Pro on Android

On iPhone and iPad, the campsite map is free, and you can open the details of 20 campsites an hour. With Pro, there’s no limit. Filtering doesn’t count towards the 20.

Power, showers and toilets, and a spot by the sea are free filters. Pro adds a lake, Wi-Fi, food on site, dogs and booking.

On Android, the whole map, filters included, is part of Pro.

Common questions

Is the campsite map free?

On iPhone and iPad, yes. You can open the details of 20 campsites an hour for free, and as many as you like with Pro. On Android, the map is part of Pro.

What if a campsite is missing a detail?

Not everything is known about every campsite. If something important is missing, it’s best to ask the campsite directly.

Can I book a campsite through the map?

No. Caravanios doesn’t take reservations and shows no prices, availability or opening times. Filters such as “Book online” or “Book on request” tell you what the campsite offers. For everything else, contact the campsite itself.
