An example camping trip, from the first route to the recap
Caravanios is an app for planning camping trips by caravan or motorhome. We make it. Here is our own 2025 caravan trip to Mali Lošinj in Croatia, with stops at Zicksee in Burgenland and in southern Styria, step by step.

First, the route
In 2025 we spent 17 nights on the road with our caravan. Our first stop was Zicksee in Burgenland, then we drove on to southern Styria, and finally across the island of Cres to Mali Lošinj.
A trip like this starts with your starting point and your holiday destination. You enter both, and Caravanios shows you the campsites along the way. Find campsites along the route in Caravanios and pick the ones that suit your trip. The campsites you pick become the stops of your route.
In Caravanios you can create route plans and trips. A route plan is your route with its stops, still without dates. A trip is a route plan with dates and the people travelling with you. It also holds your preparation (packing list and departure check), your costs and your moments, the photos and notes from the road. Once our dates were set, we turned our route plan into a trip.
Then, the stops
A stop is a place on your route where you stay, either on the way through or at your holiday destination. At Zicksee we wanted slow days by the lake. Sulmsee was our stop on the way down to Croatia. In Mali Lošinj the caravan stayed for nine nights at Camp Čikat, a campsite by the sea.
Each stop can hold a note with what you want to know before you arrive. We keep our own rule for the ferry from Valbiska to Merag when towing as a note with the stop.

The evening before departure
The evening before, we go through the departure check, the list we tick off before we leave. Both it and our packing list start from a template you set up once, so they run through the same points every time. Each trip gets its own lists.
Because departure is close, Caravanios also suggests a few last tasks for this trip, such as checking the weather and wind. You review them and add the ones you want to the check. What is left are the jobs that can only be done in the morning, such as hitching up and winding up the corner steadies.

On the road
On a day you drive, Caravanios opens the next stop in Apple Maps on iPhone, or in a navigation app of your choice on Android.
We entered the Slovenian vignette, the Croatian tolls, the ferry and the fuel as costs on the spot. So when we got home, they were already in the trip.
At Zicksee the ground squirrels came surprisingly close to our pitch. On Lošinj we rode our e-bikes to the harbour at Mrtvaška. We saved moments like these on the road, each with a sentence and a photo.
After the trip
Back home, you can put together a recap of the trip: a page with a cover photo, a short text and the moments you pick. Caravanios shows you how many kilometres and nights it added up to.
The route plan is still there after the trip. We used it again in 2026, when we went back to Sulmsee. With Caravanios Pro, the paid subscription, you also see what the trip cost per night, per kilometre and per travel day.
Common questions
Is Caravanios free?
Yes. Without an account, you can search for campsites along a route. With a free account, you also create route plans and trips with stops, the departure check and moments. A free account can create three new trips in 30 days. Your camping group, the people you camp with (on your own, that is just you), can add five photos to moments in total. Pro lifts the trip limit, adds more photos and more campsite filters, and applies to everyone in your camping group.
